Awakening Together is preparing for a meaningful staff transition as we approach the end of the year. It is a transition that gives us an opportunity both to honor the loving service of Rev. Jane Marie Sobel and to welcome Rev. Meg Reinhart into a new role.
Jane Marie has felt an inner calling to allow more spaciousness in her life. With no plans beyond spending time with Pieter and family, both here and in the Netherlands, she is ready to move into this next chapter. Jane Marie will complete her service on the Awakening Together staff on December 31, 2026.
Jane Marie began serving on staff in 2022, when she and Pieter became the caretakers of the Awakening Together Retreat House in La Veta. Together, they lovingly cared for the house, welcomed retreat participants, and helped create the supportive environment that made so many meaningful retreat experiences possible.
Following her time at the Retreat House, Jane Marie continued her service as our Spiritual Community Admin. In that role, she has supported retreats, mentoring sanghas, program communications, registrations, scheduling, scholarships, announcements, and countless other details that happen quietly behind the scenes.
Jane Marie’s reliability, warmth, and genuine care for our members have been felt throughout the organization. We are especially grateful for her devotion to following her Inner Wisdom and for the love with which she has approached her work. Her service has touched many people—often in ways they may not have realized—and has contributed greatly to the care and consistency of our programs.
As we honor Jane Marie and support her in making room for what comes next, we are also very happy to welcome Rev. Meg Reinhart as Awakening Together’s new Ministerial Operations Lead.
Meg will begin in this role on October 8, allowing her to work closely with Jane Marie throughout the remainder of the year. This transition period will give Jane Marie time to share her extensive knowledge and will help Meg prepare to assume the responsibilities of the role fully in January.
Meg has been actively involved with Awakening Together since 2014. She completed the Minister Preparation Program in 2018 and has served our community as an ordained minister, facilitator, mentor, program leader, and Trustee. She has been instrumental in supporting Awakening Together through times of transition and continues to participate actively in the sanctuary programs and retreats, including sangha-led retreat facilitation.
In addition to her long relationship with Awakening Together, Meg brings more than 20 years of experience in operations, administration, scheduling, digital systems, communications, event coordination, and program support. She is excited to continue serving Awakening Together in this new way and to bring both her technical and administrative abilities to the role.
I am deeply grateful that Jane Marie has given us the time and support needed to create such a thoughtful transition. I am equally grateful that Meg has felt called to step into this work.
