9:30 am – Shiny Things – Rev. Claire Bhavani
What is Truth? And how do we find it in a life that is pushed and pulled around by the cravings, aversions, and ignorance of the human mind and senses? There can be no confusion about where to start, for it is all laid out within the eight limbs of Raja yoga, as described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Shiny Things provides practical guidance to apply the path of Raja Yoga in daily life, relieving suffering and accessing an inner sparkle, within a supportive group environment. It includes consideration of how we conduct ourselves in the world, how we relate to our spiritual practices, appropriate care of the body and vitality, a gradual quieting of the mind and senses, throwing out what is false, and glimpsing what is True.
We will initially use the book by Bhava Ram: The Eight Limbs of Yoga, Pathway to Liberation, as an introductory guide. If you don’t have the book, you can still join us. Later in the year, we will commence a deeper immersion into a full commentary of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
10:15 am –Weekly Gathering – Rev. Anne Blanchard
Topic: Distorted Beliefs and Repressed Emotions
Description: At some point on the spiritual path, it becomes clear that to genuinely know the truth of what we are and to truly live from it, we must reckon with every untrue belief at the core of our false sense of self. Often these foundational false beliefs have been accepted so habitually for so long that it was simply never before available to question them. Once these distorted beliefs pop into our awareness, their appearance can feel jarring, unexpected and very very uncomfortable. Join Rev Anne Blanchard as she shares the current chapter of her healing the “I am bad” belief journey.
Reading: Monika Seidenbusch will read from Angelo Dilullo’s book ‘Awake’, an excerpt from Chapter One ‘A Word of Caution’.

1:30 pm – Freedom Practice Sangha with Rev. Anne Blanchard
LIVE From the Retreat House! Anne leads the Sangha in the practice of unearthing and looking directly at our individual beliefs is primarily solitary in nature, we all recognize that the sharing of that work with others who are undergoing the same process can be enormously beneficial and supportive. This will be a time of sharing our inquiries, insights, and challenges, listening to others, or just knowing that we are in community, as we find that undefended place within ourselves that longs to be free.

Sommersby is a 1993 romance/drama film starring Jodie Foster and Richard Gere. Jack Sommersby (Richard Gere) returns home to the South after the Civil War, seven years after he left as a soldier. He’s a changed man, kind and caring, and his wife Laurel (Jodie Foster) ends her engagement with another man, to live with him. However, suspicions arise that he may not be who he says he is.
Although this movie is classified as a romance, I feel it contains so much more. This film explores themes of romantic love, but it also highlights themes of identity, roles we play in community, forgiveness and redemption. I was moved the first time I watched this beautiful movie and look forward to sharing it with you all!
The movie Sommersby can be watched on YouTube, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Google Play Movies, & Plex.
