What is a Bequest? A Bequest to Awakening Together is a statement made in your Will directing that a gift be made to Awakening Together upon your death. The gift could be, for example, a specific amount of money, a specific account or portion thereof, or a residual portion of your estate after other distributions have been made. This method of giving to Awakening Together allows you to retain full control and use of your assets during your lifetime and gives you the satisfaction of knowing that after your death your assets will be used to benefit others by supporting the mission of Awakening Together. Large or small, your bequest can make a difference. Also, your gift to Awakening Together qualifies as a charitable deduction for estate tax purposes.

Awakening Together Bequest Acceptance Policy. To ensure that Awakening Together will be able to accept your bequest, please do not restrict the use of your bequest to particular purposes or include in your bequest assets that may be difficult to administer or unsuitable for serving the Awakening Together mission. Restricted gifts with specific limitations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Only those bequests which conform with the needs of  Awakening Together will be accepted. Awakening Together reserves the right to refuse any gift which is judged to be inconsistent with the needs of Awakening Together or for which Awakening Together’s resources are too limited to properly administer. Official acceptance of all bequests will be made by Awakening Together’s Board of Directors.

How to Make Your Bequest. It is recommended that you consult with an attorney regarding the preparation of your Will.

The following are examples of bequest clauses that could be customized and included in a Will to make a gift to Awakening Together. These are included here for illustrative purposes only and are not intended to be taken as legal advice.

• General Bequest:
  I give and bequeath _______________ Dollars to The Foundation for the Holy Spirit Inc., dba Awakening Together, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the State of North Carolina, for its general purposes.
• Specific Bequest:
  I give and bequeath [describe a specific stock, bond, mutual fund, account, or asset of any description] to The Foundation for the Holy Spirit Inc., dba Awakening Together, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the State of North Carolina, for its general purposes.
• Residuary Bequest:
  All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal property, I give and bequeath to The Foundation for the Holy Spirit Inc., dba Awakening Together, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the State of North Carolina, for its general purposes.
