An Online Retreat With Jacquelyn Eckert and Connie Poole
Friday-Sunday
April 24-26 & May 1-3
In this retreat, we return to these foundational teachings together. Whether this is your first or third time taking this retreat, you will have the opportunity to look—perhaps with a deeper willingness to notice what may have previously gone unseen.
As we look, something important begins to come into view. What we have called “ego” is not only a set of patterns to observe, but something that continues through our own unexamined attention. When these patterns go unnoticed, they appear to be happening to us. When they are seen clearly, it becomes evident that they are being participated in, moment by moment. This is where the shift begins; it does not replace the work we have done before, but changes how we understand and engage with it.
Rather than trying to fight, fix, or gradually undo the ego, we begin to see it as something that loses its footing in the light of awareness. The more clearly it is seen, the less compelling it becomes. This retreat is not about becoming better at managing the mind, but about seeing it clearly as we engage with it—aware of the thoughts that seem automatic, aware of the patterns that feel familiar, and aware of how easily they are taken to be “me.”
As this awareness deepens, what once felt fixed or controlling begins to loosen. With that loosening comes a growing sense of clarity, responsibility, and freedom—not as effort, but as a natural result of seeing. When you leave this retreat, you may not only see the ego more clearly—you may also recognize, in a more immediate way, how awareness itself is the key to its release.
