Plan to join us for a discussion of this month’s movie, Flight on Sunday, May 22 at 8 pm ET/6 pm MT. Rev. Kelly Barber will be facilitating this month’s movie discussion.
Denzel Washington stars as William “Whip” Whitaker Sr., an alcoholic airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mechanical failure, saving nearly everyone on board. Immediately following the crash, he is hailed a hero but an investigation soon leads to questions that put the captain in a different light. The film is loosely inspired by the plane crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261.
This movie illustrates how hard we work at trying to avoid the experience that may be best for our spiritual growth. Other challenging topics that are confronted in the movie are dealing with the aftermath of drug addictions, and other addictions such as the addiction to pride, success and even to love.
