This Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj’s quote really speaks to me.
“I see what you too could see, here and now, but for the wrong focus of your attention. You give no attention to your Self. Your mind is all with things, people and ideas, never with your Self. Bring your Self into focus, become aware of your own existence.”
I am VERY interested in hearing what comes to you. Please share your inspirations.
You attend to things, people, and ideas.
Attend within.
You can see as I see.
This reminds me of the analogy of watching a movie. Part of the magic of a movie is when we get lost in the story on the screen. We identify with the characters, the drama... that we forget we're really sitting in a seat in the theater. And what Nisgardatta is saying is it's even deeper than that. We aren't even the person sitting in that seat... we're the awareness that is observing the person sitting in the seat, watching the movie! To be aware of that Awareness shifts everything. I was going to say it allows to see where we add value to this or that but as I receded into my own awareness...who was there to add value? No one. There just is. A mystery...
Nice analogy, the movie.
”I was going to say it allows to see where we add value to this or that but as I receded into my own awareness...who was there to add value? No one. There just is. A mystery...”. Love this.
