Awakening Together is a universal assembly of peers dedicated to recognizing and embracing universal wisdom regardless of the form in which it appears. We are also dedicated to recognizing the ways we deny universal wisdom by adopting personal beliefs and biases.
It was through The Foundation for the Holy Spirit that Awakening Together was born. Regina founded the Foundation for the Holy Spirit along with David Fishman and Philip Frisk in April 2006. Regina was the sole teacher for the foundation until the end of 2012, when she realized the vision for Awakening Together. Beginning in early 2013, Regina worked with a team of founding members to establish Awakening Together. Awakening Together opened for members and held its first online gathering on July 21, 2013. Awakening Together was awarded official “church status” by the Internal Revenue Service in December 2015.
Websites were created, we were gifted the ACIM Gather PalTalk platform and we continued to share within that online format, and friendships were forged. The MPP Curriculum was created by Regina Dawn Akers and soon a whole round of Ministers took the oath to be Awakening Together Ordained Ministers. Many more programs were ignited such as our Weekly Gathering, The Guiding Light, and many other programs that continue to inspire the Awakening Together Membership.
As time went on, even more changes took place within our community. Almost three years ago we moved from Paltalk to Zoom and with that so much more visual interaction has been a part of our experience. We have grown our Awakening Together Channel on YouTube to almost 1200 Subscribers. Many speakers, teachers, and presenters have said yes to being part of what we are about here at Awakening Together. Our Guest Satsangs are a continued resource and inspiration as more and more well-known nondual teachers come into our Sanctuary to inspire and to join with us in truth.
There has been much growth in our community over the last 8 years. We started with only two employees and now we have four employees. We also have several volunteers that keep this organization thriving. In October of 2018, we purchased a retreat house in beautiful La Veta Colorado and the beauty of Colorado continues to inspire and call us back to enjoy nature and all the scenery that is in La Veta and the surrounding area. The Awakening Together Retreat House is intended to be a resource for members and friends to take their next step with God, either through organized in-person retreats or self-directed retreats. Another interesting evolution in our community has been the holding of online retreats brought about by the Covid19 pandemic. Online retreats have offered our teachings to those who are unable to travel to La Veta.
Another change in the evolution of Awakening Together has been that of Regina Dawn Akers handing the baton of the President-Minister role over to Rev. Jacquelyn Eckert. Rev. Jacquelyn has fully undertaken this huge challenge and helped us all with the transition as Regina has been living out her guidance to step back more from being at the forefront of Awakening Together. Regina’s loving request was that with that transition, Awakening Together’s membership as a whole run the organization–a more “we” centered approach to the leadership of the organization. We have several active subcommittees members and volunteers who have actively stepped up to this challenge.
We are so happy to celebrate this day with you! Thank you for joining with us in our continued purpose! We give gratitude for you and the continued growth and expansion of this virtual community. All in all, it has been quite an exciting journey and evolution of Awakening Together. It’s because of each one of you, our beloved members and friends that we continue to thrive.
