Join us at 6:00 pm ET/ 4:00 pm MT for Something Genuine with Rev. Jacquelyn Eckert
Rev. Jacquelyn Eckert facilitates this program, in which Awakening Together members and friends join together to watch and discuss TED talks that reveal the Truth of ourselves and our universe based on the actual experience of ordinary people. Their insights are genuine—not based upon theory or dogma—and give us a “man on the street” perspective on what we are coming to learn through Awakening Together.
Join us at 7:00 pm ET/ 5:00 pm MT for Clarifying the Teachings with Rev. Regina Dawn Akers
Each week Regina picks a different topic and clarifies the teaching around that topic. She also takes questions regarding that topic. If there is extra time at the end of the session, she takes questions on any spiritual topic in a Satsang type of format.
Join us at 8:00 pm ET/ 6:00 pm MT for Movie Discussion Group
Movie Discussion Group for this month will be facilitated by Rev. Jacquelyn Eckert.
Lester Burnham, the hero of “American Beauty,” is played by Kevin Spacey as a man who is unloved by his daughter, ignored by his wife, and unnecessary at work. “I’ll be dead in a year,” he tells us in almost the first words of the movie. “In a way, I’m dead already.” The movie is the story of his rebellion.
“Look closer,” the film’s tagline tells us. Look closer at the beautiful things we yearn for and spend our lives chasing. The characters in “American Beauty” are yearning to fulfill a dream that they think will get them out of their miserable lives.
By the end of the film, most of the characters get a taste of their dreams and discover the underlying emptiness of their lives. Looking closer, they see the decay that has replaced genuine beauty and meaning and discover that their dreams are nothing but illusions.
The movie is available on Amazon, Hulu, Showtime, Vudu, YouTube, and other streaming services.
*Sanctuary now closes at a new time of 9 pm ET.
