We are delighted to introduce you to our new Retreat House Caretakers, Jane Sobel and Pieter vanProoijen. When Shiryl Kaplan announced her plan to resign as Retreat House Caretaker at the end of March, Spirit stepped in and took care of the rest.
Pieter and Jane asked us to share this message of introduction with the Awakening Together Community:
We are beyond thrilled to be joining the Awakening Together family as caretakers of the retreat house! We have been house sitting for the past two years caring for people’s homes, pets, and plants. We are both home bodies at heart and although homeowners always suggest things to do and see during our travels, we appreciate using the time to focus on our inner life. We have lived in spiritual community together (one based on the teachings of A Course in Miracles) and love the idea of coming together with friends to share in the experience of awakening. The synchronistic opportunity to become the retreat house caretakers left us in awe at how the Universe is always working on our behalf.
Jane recently reconnected with Jacquelyn after a long period of being out of touch. Shortly thereafter Jacquelyn informed us that on that very day the current caretaker tendered her resignation and Jacquelyn wondered if we would be interested in the position?! We both felt a wholehearted YES without knowing all the details. There was a feeling of trust that this was Given by Spirit as the next step.
We could each write a book about how we got to this moment in time, but for now we would just like to say we are happy to be joining you on this adventure of Awakening Together. Thank you for this opportunity! We look forward to serving you at the retreat house or online!
