Becoming Jane is the inspiring story of a young Jane Austen before fame, as she navigates love, societal pressure, and her emerging voice as a writer. Set in a time when women had few choices, the film follows Jane’s struggle to stay true to her creative spirit, her heart, and ultimately, her deeper self. More than a period romance, Becoming Jane is a powerful reflection on choosing inner truth over approval — a modern-day parable of becoming who we truly are.
I was inspired to share this movie as it lit up awareness for me in the following areas:
- Conditioning: The line, “I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in,” Kenny Rogers quickly dropped in! The way in which the storyline portrays woman’s roles & restraints, unfolded a new layer of awareness for me.
- Judgement: A tool for continuing the illusion of separation. Shortly after seeing this movie the following sentiment on judgement kept coming to my awareness. “I don’t have to be the judge because I don’t know what anything is for.” (Latest from Lin C.)
- Dispassion: The script lulls the ego in: Story comforts us with the “familiar & acceptable” behaviors, fears, & desires of the human condition and making the ego comfortable, then hits it with a decision in which it can only feel compassion.
As the story develops, awareness dropped in and opened door for a compassionate space for healing these misunderstandings and get curious! Let Jane’s story inspire your own unfolding.
All are welcome!
