Rev. David Hemphill shared a weekly program called “Stability.”
Here is a description of the program from David:
“Join me as I embark on a challenging journey of cultivating a virtue that doesn’t come easily for me. Throughout my life, I have changed jobs, relationships, and locations every few years. I am at peace with my external restlessness, but I realize stability is not just about constancy in the external world, but also about finding an internal sense of consistency. By following inner wisdom and taking an honest, vulnerable, self-effacing approach to practice, I will delve into the essence of stability and what it means for my life.
There are 7 principles, given to me by inner wisdom which I will follow during this journey. Each week, I will reflect on them and discuss the struggles and successes of implementing them into my daily life. I will also host direct experience journeys into related inquiries, and will happily invite anyone who feels called, to come join in on the discussion. These sessions are free for anyone to take the mic and share. We will always stay grounded in Awakening Together’s Core Values & Purpose, as well as these 7 guiding principles:
Each week we will open by reviewing the Awakening Together Core Values & Purpose, the 7 inner wisdom messages given, and any reflections from the week. Then we will proceed with contemplation, discussion, direct-experiencing, teachings, or whatever else may arise naturally. While these principles are abstract, we will look every week at real life examples and activities that illustrate how these principles are applied in daily life.
There is also an associated text I will use during this time. The text is “A Mind at Home with Itself” by Byron Katie. Although the way “The Work” lives inside of me is different than how Katie recommends or writes, “The Work” itself are just questions. There is no right or wrong way to do it, and so I find the principles she speaks of and the way she lives the work to be congruent with how I feel guided to inquire in my life.”
