Congratulations to Our New Trustees!

July 10, 2019 By Regina Dawn Akers

Jay McCormick
George Maddox

Congratulations to our two newly elected Trustees, Jay McCormick and George Maddox.

It was a close election. All four of the nominees would have made great Trustees, and that showed up in the close election results.

We want to thank each of the nominees for being willing to serve as a Trustee.

I look forward to working with the new Trustees as they serve their term over the next 3 years.

Sincerely,
Rev. Regina Dawn Akers
President-Minister

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 142

July 10, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Lesson 142. My mind holds only what I think with God.

(123) I thank my Father for His gifts to me.

(124) Let me remember I am one with God.

As I contemplate God’s gifts to me, immediately I am aware of the life I have lived. It has been a pathway to God from the very beginning.

I was seemingly born to two loving parents. My father was studying theology in college and became a Methodist minister.

Years later, my parents lives (and subsequently their children’s lives) were changed when they found a New Thought Sunday school class within the Methodist church that the family attended.

My parents discovered the books and teachings of Edgar Cayce, Ruth Montgomery and others and would reads their books to their daughters like most parents would reads children’s books to their children before bed. My sisters and I loved it and we couldn’t get enough.

My parents moved to Unity Village to further their spiritual education. My Mother became a Unity Teacher and my father became a Unity minister.

My parents gave all five of their daughters the three piece book set of A Course In Miracles for Christmas shortly after I graduated from college.

We had regular family “Course” meetings for many, many years.

My Dad became the minister at Unity of Louisville. Dad invited Regina Dawn Akers to come and speak at the church. Several family members went to some of Regina’s speaking engagements.

My Dad, and later my Mom, moved to Wisconsin and studied with the group at The Endeavor Academy. My sisters and I spent time within the community and I had numerous mystical experiences.

Dad found David Hoffmeister and his Messengers when they were in the northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. Several of us spent significant time with the group. New and expansive teachings were lighting us up.

Jacquelyn left her position as a District Court judge in Louisville, Kentucky to go with the Hoffmeister group to Utah. Mom went also and stayed for several years. I spent lots and lots of time with the group mostly via retreats.

Jacquelyn found Regina Dawn Akers in Colorado and moved close by.

When Regina received guidance to start Awakening Together, Jacquelyn was a founding trustee, eventually becoming vice-president. I joined a little after the church began. Jacquelyn and I teach and facilitate a Consistent Gentle Healing group together.

I am grateful for the path that was laid out before me. I am grateful to all those family and non-family members who lit the way for me. I feel I have been in the flow of Purpose for most of my life and never more than I presently am. Even helping facilitate the Consistent Gentle Healing Group has felt like the universe has been encouraging me to be more and more involved in my awakening. I am well on my way to remembering who I really am because I have more and more certainty I am one with God.

Releasing the ‘I Am Bad’ Belief ~ A Retreat at the Retreat House, Aug 12-16

July 9, 2019 By Regina Dawn Akers

Releasing the ‘I Am Bad’ Belief

August 12-16, 2019
with Regina Dawn Akers
at the
Awakening Together Retreat House
in La Veta, Colorado

What is the ‘I Am Bad’ Belief?

A Course in Miracles calls it “guilt.” The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament (NTI) calls it “unworthiness.” Regina Dawn Akers simply calls it the “I am bad” belief.

No matter what you call it, it is an untrue belief, most likely adopted in early childhood, which drives actions and reactions in nearly all humans. People make life decisions that they wouldn’t otherwise make because of this belief’s influence. This belief is the primary cause of stress, annoyance, anger, jealousy and other types of mental and emotional suffering. If you release this one belief, your life will be happier, and you will feel much freer than you do with the belief.

The ‘I am Bad’ belief is unconscious for some and somewhat conscious for others, but until it is brought fully into consciousness, the belief cannot be eradicated.

This retreat will focus solely on how to release the ‘I am bad’ belief. If you come, you will learn what you need to learn to be set free! The retreat is led by Regina Dawn Akers.

Let one who has released the

‘I Am Bad’ belief

show you the way

in this concentrated, focused retreat.

Gentle Healing Year 3 ~ Daily Contemplation #154

July 9, 2019 By Regina Dawn Akers

Please read and contemplate quotes #521-524 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. This is the last quote today:

In as much as all this world, body and organs, vital breath and personality are all unreal, in so much THOU ART THAT, the restful, the stainless, secondless Eternal, the supreme.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 141

July 9, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Lesson 141. Review of Lessons 121 and 122.

“My mind holds only what I think with God,” is the key thought we will contemplate as we go through this next review, so let’s begin by looking deeply at what that means.

Interestingly, the dictionary does not define ‘think’ as the ongoing mental chatter in the mind, although most people tend to think that chatter is thinking. The dictionary defines ‘think’ as “to have a conscious mind” or “to have in consciousness.”

Therefore, “My mind holds only what I think with God” means that anything we are conscious of that is not truth is temporary. Only truth is lasting. And it is this simple fact that sets the stage for the contemplation of every lesson that we will review over the next ten days.

Sometimes A Course in Miracles uses the term “real thoughts” to refer to the thoughts we think with God. Real thoughts are the environment of pure consciousness. You can think of them as attitudes or ways of being. Real thoughts include:

~ All-is-well (peace)
~ Open embracing acceptance (love)
~ An inherent sense freedom—a sense of soaring from within (joy)
~ Intimacy with everything (oneness).

Patience, allowance and compassion are the reflections of our real thoughts.

So, “My mind holds only what I think with God” means that only these qualities are lasting. Everything else that appears in consciousness is temporary and passing.

With this in mind, we are asked to contemplate each day’s review lessons. The review instructions say, “Let each word [in the review lessons] shine with the meaning God has given it, as it was given to you through His Voice. Let each idea which you review that day give you the gift He has laid in it for you …”

As an example, here is my contemplation of today’s review lessons. They were contemplated with “My mind holds only what I think with God” in mind:

Forgiveness is knowing all is well all the time. This includes the knowledge that I need do nothing to try and control or manipulate any situation or any person. Forgiveness is the knowledge that nothing need be different. Forgiveness is knowing that all is well regardless of my perceived wants and needs. Forgiveness is knowing that what I am cannot be threatened and, therefore, need not be defended. Forgiveness is allowing what is, to be, without trying to fix or change it.

Forgiveness offers everything I want because it is the belief that something or someone needs to be controlled or changed that keeps me in bondage to the thinking mind. I don’t allow anything. I merely acknowledge that everything has already been allowed. I see that nothing is required to make this moment better or different. When I am not struggling to make this moment different, I am free. It is that simple. Freedom is what I want. I don’t want to be in bondage to an idealized version of this moment. I merely wish to experience it for what it is. In this, there is true freedom.
