“To love yourself right now, just as you are, is to give yourself to heaven. Don’t wait until you die. If you wait, you die now. If you love, you live now.” Alan Cohen

How Do I Know What Makes Me Beautiful? by David Hemphill
How do I know what makes me beautiful?
The truth is I am beauty.
A critical voice in my head once thought
That I was beautiful because of my body.
That I was beautiful because of my perfection.
It counseled me on all things beauty.
It helped me analyze my days so that
I could fix the flaws in
My body, my personality, and myself.
So that I could be perfect.
On my journey to perfection I asked to hear a loving voice.
The voice told me that I was beautiful
From the very beginning.
That I was beautiful before I decided to be perfect.
Before I started all and any of my journeys
I was beautiful
From the beginning.
A funny thing happened tonight
As I sat with my beautiful self.
I saw memories of my journey to perfection.
In the memories I seeked to make myself beautiful.
To fix my flaws and become perfect.
But then I saw a glimpse of my innate beauty,
And I asked the critical voice,
“How do you know what makes me beautiful?”
But before it could answer, the Loving voice,
With compassion and understanding, said,
“You are beauty.”
And it occurred to me in that moment
That the critical voice
Saw beauty as perfection.
But the truth is that,
And the Loving voice confirms,
I myself am beauty.
And that has been true
Since the very beginning;
Beauty is not attained.
Nor is it perfection.
Beauty is innate.
It is spiritual.
It is knowledge and life.

Common Ground Mini-Series: Gina Lake – Part 5 of 8
BUSTING THE ILLUSION
In week 5 of this 8-week class with Gina Lake, you will learn how to free yourself from the false self and its negative and limiting beliefs. You will see clearly how the egoic mind, which creates the false self, operates and draws you into its illusory, virtual reality and how all suffering is created by believing the lies in the egoic thought-stream. More importantly, you will discover what you can do about it—how you can detach from the egoic mind and align, instead, with your true self. You will see how living in alignment with the true self is not only more creative, wise, peaceful, and loving, but also safe and provides for all your needs. This course is essentially about how to move out of the egoic mind and live from a deeper place, which is accessed in the present moment.

“The contemplative mind knows that I don’t create the patterns, nor do I have to understand them. I simply must be willing to stand in awe, readiness, and humility before the patterns of reality until they reveal themselves – because they’re already there, shared by other true seers or contemplatives.” Fr. Richard Rohr

“By noticing what goes on in our bodies and minds, we step out of the loop of reactivity. Instead of being like a horseman or woman in a frenetic and futile battle with a frightened mount, we stop trying to grapple our way to steadiness but rather become conscious enough to realize our suffering and maybe the patterns that led to the suffering.” Ed Halliwell
