A Course in Miracles is a complete self-study spiritual thought system. As a three-volume curriculum consisting of a Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers, it teaches that the way to universal love and peace—or remembering God—is by undoing guilt through forgiving others. The Course thus focuses on the healing of relationships and making them holy. A Course in Miracles also emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum, of which there are “many thousands.” Consequently, even though the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it is a universal spiritual teaching.

A sincere aspirant should arrange his work in such a way that he will spend only a portion of his time and energy for maintaining the body, so that he can utilize the remaining time and energy in striving to earn the great profit of Self-knowledge.

In this member meeting, Rev. Regina Dawn Akers, our President Minister, shared information about:
Regina Dawn Akers reads selections from books by Bernadette Roberts. The purpose of this inspired book study is to learn from one who walked through the final doorway to no self, no world, no God–Only Reality.
Topic: “Letting Life Lead”
Description: Rev. Gloria shared from her personal experience on letting Reality be as it is because fighting it causes suffering. Also, she shared about the Serenity Prayer. This prayer has been an instrument used in helping her, and a gift she shared with a loved one, in order to focus the mind on something helpful instead of on fear. She also talked about Regina Dawn Aker’s teaching on The Flow and how this teaching allows one to choose with Spirit instead of choosing to fight reality.
Reading: Kathy Smith read from a book called Real, Whole, Here and Happy by James Waite. The Chapter/section is called “Choice Is Not an Option.”

Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train one night, and signs up for dance lessons, hoping to meet her. At first, it seems like a mistake. Please read quotes 1316-1318 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. Here is the last quote:
The mind which attends to Self is no more the mind; it is the consciousness aspect of Self! Likewise, so long as it attends to the second and third persons (the world), it is not the consciousness aspect of Self; it is the mind.

Tip for Lesson 33 and beyond:
Today we are doing the meditation, “There is another way of looking at the world.” As you do the meditation, the ego may utilize a trick. The trick is letting the lesson slide back and be repeated in the background of attention while thoughts sneak forward to reclaim the foreground of attention. Be aware of this and do not let it happen. Put your heart on the lesson so it remains in the foreground as you survey thoughts, which should be at a further distance.
Lesson in the foreground. Thoughts at a distance.
It is as if you are at the movies. The lesson is closer to you, a part of you. The thoughts are out there on the screen. This promotes genuine healing.
Also, take this tip from NTI Colossians 3 with you for all of our workbook lessons:
May you practice your lessons in this way:
~Be grateful for the truth that you know.
~Practice it with Wisdom, and pray that more truth be given.
~Be grateful to your brothers who show you what you have learned.
~Welcome your lessons in vigor, that you may grow in mastery of the way.
~Embrace all that you see, knowing it comes from you.
~Correct that which needs correction.
~And immerse the mind in the reflection of truth.
Please read quotes 1314-1315 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. Here is the last quote:
There are two kinds of impediments which act as obstacles for the mind to achieve Self-abidance, and hence two kinds of strength of mind are essential for overcoming them. The first strength is that which is required to prevent the mind from branching out into innumerable thoughts through the force of tendencies towards the sense-objects. The second strength is that which is required to direct the mind (the power of attention) towards the first person or Self, that is, the strength actually to attend to Self.
