Late in 1975, when he was 33 years old, John discovered the perfect idea of perfect Social Justice, and set out to become the perfect Communist revolutionary. He joined with a small group of anarcho-communist radicals, and embarked upon four years of bank robberies, property bombings, gunfights with the police, two escapes from federal prisons and two years on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List; all done in the name of supporting the struggles of the American worker for justice. In the end it came to nothing.
In January of 1976, he was shot and captured during a bank robbery; in March, he escaped.
In 1978, after two years on the run, robbing banks and organizing property bombings, John was captured by the FBI, tried, convicted, and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
In March of 1979, he escaped again from the federal prison where he was serving his sentence. In April of 1981, after two years on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, he was finally captured for the last time and returned to prison.
In June of 1994, in the fifteenth year of his imprisonment, the American spiritual teacher Gangaji came to the prison where John was serving his sentence. John found himself face to face with her and, in that meeting, discovered himself to be eternally and unconditionally free. He spent more than a year in the fully open awareness of spiritual awakening, which collapsed suddenly, leaving him bereft.
John spent the rest of his time in prison trying to find something that he could do that would bring him back to the state of indifference and apathy that he had enjoyed prior to meeting Gangaji and being taken by the false promise of freedom. This effort unexpectedly brought him to true freedom by means of an extremely simple act of attention.

Bob Fergeson is the author of The Listening Attention and a new novel about awakening called, Dark Zen – A Guru on the Bayou.
Bob’s spiritual teacher was Richard Rose. Bob says, “I took his advice to heart, put what little I could into practice, and it gives results. I lost the fear of living I had carried in years past, … This journey culminated in a dramatic realization, the experience of my true nature as pure awareness, love in action. This was a traumatic loss of the personal man, which was replaced by the knowledge of myself as the universal awareness in every man, in everything. The question of ‘who am I’ was answered. This was replaced by a drive to communicate the ways and means of this realization to others who ask the same question.”

Scott Kiloby is an author and international speaker on the subject of freedom through non-dual realization, a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor/Registered Addiction Specialist, Director of the Kiloby Center for Recovery, Inc. and Founder of the Living Inquiries Community.
Scott’s message is simple: Rest. Inquire. Enjoy Life.
“Rest” refers to the invitation to relax into the present moment and let all thoughts, emotions, and sensations come and go freely. “Inquire” refers to Scott’s body of work called the Living Inquiries, which are designed to help people see through the belief in separation and deficiency. “Enjoy Life” is self-explanatory. Through taking Scott’s work deeply into your life and discovering freedom for yourself, life is simpler and therefore more enjoyable. People and things take on a lighter, more illusory-like appearance. The sense of separation is seen through.
You don’t have to suffer anymore within a personal story that leaves you feeling “not there yet,” “not good enough,” or some other deficiency story. You no longer have to chase the future for a happiness that always seems out of reach. We have been falsely conditioned to believe that we are separate, deficient people and that our stories are who we are. In this conditioning, we have learned to avoid uncomfortable feelings and sensations. Scott’s sites and books are the various ways he speaks to seeing through these stories and conditioning, so that we can feel emotions and sensations directly (instead of trying to escape what is), and live in the present moment without identifying with thought.

Timothy Conway has been our Satsang guest twice before. As Timothy’s website says, “This Timothy Conway fellow is a story within a dream… A mere, mortal figment pointing you back to the immortal Divine Dreamer, Your Real Self, the One Who Alone IS.”
Although this Satsang touched on many topics, Timothy spoke at length about the merits of veganism.
About Timothy:
After a sudden, vivid, and completely life-changing spiritual awakening in his 16th year in February 1971, occurring not by efforts or drugs (never took any drugs), but entirely by Divine Grace, an exploding open of the heart-mind with the nondual realization that “God alone is Real, HERE and NOW, and we—the personified manifestations of God— are all truly made of Divine Spirit, Love, Joy, and Peace”—his life has been gratefully devoted ever since then to freely sharing, with anyone sincerely interested, the profoundly healing and empowering truth of Infinite Open Awareness, the “real Reality” right HERE (closer than the mind), and right NOW (always the true Reality before you can even think about this Self).
After awakening, Timothy immersed himself in the study of spiritual teachings that point toward truth, which gives him the ability to speak of his experience using the language and symbols of many different teachings. He also spent time studying directly with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, who he refers to as his mentor.
Timothy’s clarity is expressed lovingly. He encourages a healthy relationship with spirituality, one that recognizes the absolute as truth yet interacts gently and compassiontately with the relative self and world.

Liz Cronkhite has been a student of A Course in Miracles since 1984, and a trained life-coach since 2000. She began one-on-one mentoring of Course students from around the world in 2006. Below is her path to becoming a spiritual mentor:
Liz was born at the end of 1963. Growing up, she had no religious or spiritual training. but as a teenager felt a Presence in herself, Which she called on in times of stress. She called this Presence her “inner Therapist”. Despite this experience, she considered herself an atheist at the time, since this Loving Presence bore no resemblance to the fearful God of the world.
In 1984, at the age of 20, Liz was introduced to A Course in Miracles. It was immediately familiar to her, even though the ideas seemed radical and mind blowing. She felt as though a part of her had written it, and that the Course was her whole purpose for being in the world. She knew that one day she was going to do something with the Course beyond studying and practicing it. Even so, she struggled with it for a long time, and eventually put it aside for a few years.
Soon after becoming a student of the Course, Liz experienced the Holy relationship, in which she saw Christ in another, and recognized her Self. This, and other similar experiences, showed her what the Course teaches about Truth and illusion: Only God is True; everything else is illusion. This experience shattered her world, and she mourned the loss of her illusions for a long time before gradually reaching acceptance of this Truth, and trusting the Holy Spirit’s Voice as her own True Voice.
From 1999-2001 Liz studied life-coaching. At this time she also returned to studying the Course after a few years away from it. It was then that she accepted her spiritual experiences, and this led to her full understanding of the Course. She knew it was time to teach other students of the Course.
Liz led a study group in Las Vegas for two-and-a-half years, and in 2006 she began to mentor students of the Course one-on one over the phone. Her purpose is to make the path of spiritual awakening easier for other serious students of the Course.
Liz lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with her wife, Courtney, and their lovable mutts.
