Saturday, October 20 – Arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport. You will be met by someone from Vered Hasharon Travel and taken to our hotel in Tel Aviv where you can rest or enjoy the beach. We will get together at dinner, which will be followed by a Meet & Greet with our tour guide, Sam Gorenshten.
Sunday, October 21 – Drive to Jerusalem. Visit the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane. Enjoy private time at the Garden, since it will be reserved for our group only! After lunch, we will enter Old Town Jerusalem & tour the walled city both above ground and through underground tunnels. We will also visit the Southern Steps of the Jewish Temple, which still remain from Jesus’ time. You will also have free time to explore & shop.
Monday, October 22 – We will visit the third holiest site in Islam, the Dome of the Rock, followed by the most holy site in Judaism, the Western Wall. We will also visit St. Mark’s, which is one of the possible sites of the last supper, the Passover meal Jesus shared with his disciples just prior to his arrest. After lunch, we will visit The Garden Tomb, a likely site for Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection.
Tuesday, October 23 – We will visit Genesis Land, a living history museum where the Biblical times of Genesis come to life. Next, we will visit the site where John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. Like Jesus, we will leave the baptismal site and go to the Mount of Temptation, where Jesus is believed to have spent 40 days and 40 nights in the desert being tempted by the devil (ego).
Wednesday, October 24 – We will visit Elijah’s cave, which is sacred to Jews, Christians, Muslims and Druze. Elijah was the first biblical character to raise someone from the dead. He also ascended directly into heaven without ever tasting death. Some people thought Jesus was the reincarnation of Elijah. We will also visit the Bahai Gardens, eat lunch at a Druze village, and visit Mt. Carmel, which overlooks the Valley of Armageddon. (We might choose to visit Caesarea instead of Mt. Carmel.)
Thursday, October 25 – We will visit Tel Dan Nature Reserve. After an easy hike, we will drive to Safed for lunch. Safed is considered the “City of Kabbalah“. After a visit to Safed, we will finish our day at the beautiful Rosh Hanikra Grottos.
Friday, October 26 – We will visit Nazareth, including the Church of Annunciation, which is traditionally where the Angel Gabriel told Mary that she would have a child. We will also visit the Synagogue Church, the White Mosque and Mary’s International Center. Next, we will drive to Mount Tabor, where Peter saw a vision of Jesus standing with Moses and Elijah. We will end the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.
Saturday, October 27 – We will visit key sites from Jesus’ 3-year ministry in Galilee including the site of the Sermon on the Mount, the place where Jesus multiplied the fish, Peter’s hometown and Mary Magdalene’s hometown.
Sunday, October 28 – Fly home or begin the extension trip.
