In the Bible, Jesus said:<\/p>\n
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.<\/p>\n
When a person is identified with the ego, his point-of-view is selfish. He sees himself as different from others, and he cares more about himself than anyone else. This is true even though he may deny it to himself.<\/p>\n
That is why a mother can be annoyed with her children, even though she loves them more than anyone else on earth. You see, she loves herself even more, and when her children conflict with her present desire (e.g., They are noisy when she wants quiet), she becomes annoyed with them.<\/p>\n
As we awaken to consciousness, we begin to love others in the same way we love our self. That means their needs (perceived or real) are just as important to us as our own. Even more, we put others before \u00a0<\/em>ourselves, because we notice that the only part of us that wouldn\u2019t put others before \u2018me\u2019 is the ego, and we have no more interest in ego.<\/p>\n These are signs that you are awakening to consciousness:<\/p>\n
