{"id":3177,"date":"2013-10-21T14:21:42","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T20:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/Awakening-Together.org\/?p=3177"},"modified":"2017-08-18T19:51:31","modified_gmt":"2017-08-19T01:51:31","slug":"karen-ann-berg-raftakis-delegating-to-the-holy-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awakening-together.org\/dev2\/karen-ann-berg-raftakis-delegating-to-the-holy-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Karen Ann Berg-Raftakis &#8211; Delegating to the Holy Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Lately, I\u2019ve been experiencing a lot of stress both at work and at home.\u00a0 It seems as if I&#8217;ve collected more and more responsibilities over the years and the fear that I might \u201cdrop the ball&#8221; has become very real to me.\u00a0 Last Sunday, obeying a sudden urge to get away, I left my house and decided to drive over to Chipotles and eat lunch alone.\u00a0 After I bought my food and sat down, I looked out the window and saw a crowd of people crossing a busy intersection. While watching them I managed to still my mind for a few minutes.\u00a0\u00a0 The thought, \u201cnone of this matters, not really\u201d popped into my head, followed by, \u201cI need to just allow everything to happen of its own accord.\u00a0 The world will not end because I decide I don&#8217;t need to try and direct everything any more.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>It became clear to me that these \u201cproblems\u201d I&#8217;m always mulling over only serve to perpetuate the illusion that I have control over my individual life which is separate from everyone and everything else.\u00a0 Soon the idea, \u201cI\u2019ve never been good at delegating,\u201d crossed my mind.\u00a0 I consequently asked myself, \u201cWhy\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do<\/span>\u00a0I find it so difficult to delegate?\u201d\u00a0 I realized it\u2019s because I honestly believed nobody could perform the task at hand as efficiently as I can.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>It occurred to me that I am also avoiding delegating my responsibilities to the Holy Spirit, and\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that<\/span>\u00a0is why I feel so stressed out.\u00a0\u00a0 Evidently, I don\u2019t have enough trust in or patience for Spirit to take care of things.\u00a0 How foolish is that? Especially since I can\u2019t think of one instance when the Holy Spirit has let me down.\u00a0 There have been many times for instance, when I begin to have doubts about the path I\u2019m taking in life.\u00a0 Things that I usually enjoy doing, like writing or teaching, suddenly cause me anxiety.\u00a0 I experience writer\u2019s block and begin believing that I\u2019m really not helping anybody with what I&#8217;m doing, including myself.\u00a0 However, every single time that I\u2019ve felt like this, usually within a day or two the words will come, presumably out of nowhere.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll also receive an email,\u00a0phone call or Facebook message from somebody letting me know I&#8217;m on the right track.\u00a0 It\u2019s as if Spirit is telling me, \u201cStop all your doubting silly girl!\u00a0 This is what you are supposed to be doing, let me get this for you.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>After arriving at this understanding, I felt much calmer, peaceful even.\u00a0 I finished my lunch, went home and decided that \u201cdelegate\u201d will be my new mantra for the week.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lately, I\u2019ve been experiencing a lot of stress both at work and at home.\u00a0 It seems as if I&#8217;ve collected more and more responsibilities over the years and the fear that I might \u201cdrop the ball&#8221;
