According to tradition, it was written around 6th century BCE by Chinese sage and governmental record-keeper, Lao Tzu.<\/p>\n<p>Tao means &#8220;the way.&#8221; Te means &#8220;virtue&#8221; or &#8220;inner strength.&#8221; Ching means &#8220;great book&#8221; or &#8220;classic.&#8221; So, we can translate Tao Te Ching as &#8220;The Great Book of the Way&#8217;s Virtue.&#8221; However, &#8220;virtue&#8221; in this context does not refer to virtue as humans typically understand it. In fact, if humans really understood, embraced and lived the virtue of the Tao, appearances like conflict and lack would be impossible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In this class you will<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>1. The participant will become familiar with the classic Chinese work, Tao Te Ching.<\/p>\n<p>2. The participant will contemplate chapters from Tao Te Ching and realize effective leadership.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class Schedule<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>~ On Thursday evenings, September 28 &#8211; October 19, 2017 from 7:30pm-9:30pm ET (4:30pm-6:30pm Pacific). Homework begins September 22. Facilitator: Rev. Jay McCormick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific Information<\/strong>:<br \/>\nCost is $80.<br \/>\nTextbook needed is <em>Tao Te Ching <\/em>by Stephen Mitchell.<br \/>\nClass is offered in PalTalk.
