Whenever Awakening Together isn’t offering a retreat event, the Awakening Together Retreat House is available for personal, self-guided retreats. We provide the retreat environment. You decide how you want to use your time in order to accomplish your spiritual goals. The Awakening Together Retreat House has several amenities that will enhance your personal retreat experience.
Current Amenities
Meditation/Contemplation Room – The meditation/contemplation room is a large room on the lower level with plenty of comfortable chairs and pillows. In addition, each of our guest rooms are furnished with “husband pillows” to support you as you meditate/contemplate in the privacy of your room. There is also a chair in each guest room.
Quiet Hours – Quiet hours at the retreat house are 9pm to 11am each day. Quiet hours are designed to provide you with undisturbed time for contemplation and meditation. (Exception: We listen to the Awakening Together Weekly Gathering each Sunday morning from 8:15-9:30am.)
Library – You will find two bookshelves at the retreat house including our “Library Shelf” which is filled with spiritual books that you may borrow while at the retreat house. The Library Shelf is located downstairs in the meditation/contemplation room. We also have a “Take a Book/Leave a Book” shelf in the dining room where you may exchange one of your personal spiritual books for another book, which someone else left on the shelf.
Wahatoya Lake – The retreat house is located next to Wahatoya Lake, which is a small lake with incredible mountain views. You can walk around the lake on a flat one-mile trail. The trail enters a small forested area on the south side of the lake where you will find a lot of privacy for contemplation and meditation. We provide foldable chairs with shoulder straps, which you may borrow for use at the lake. Wahatoya Lake is also a great place to watch the sun rise or set.
Daigre Reservoir – Daigre Reservoir is about 1/4 mile east of Wahatoya Lake and within easy walking distance from the Retreat House. There are a few hiking trails in the wilderness that surrounds the lake. There is a lovely large rock on the north shore that makes a wonderful place to sit for contemplation and meditation.
Healthy Meals – We provide breakfast freely each day from 7:30-9:30am. We also provide dinner freely on Saturday through Wednesday. Dinner is typically served at 6pm. On Sunday, we serve an early dinner at 4pm with dessert at 8pm. We also provide a guest refrigerator and pantry so you can store the food you need for your other meals.
Optional Activities – From time-to-time, optional activities are offered to our guests. For example, guests may be invited to go on a silent hike, to attend a mountaintop Satsang, to visit a nearby spiritual site, to attend a local yoga class, and etcetera. Optional activities are announced on the information board in the Retreat House dining room.
Envisioned Amenities
Meditation Garden – We have selected a space east of the house where we would like to build a meditation garden. The garden will include inspirational outdoor art and benches or outdoor chairs. A fountain may also be provided.
Labyrinth – We have located an area in the yard on the northeast side of the house where we would like to build a labyrinth.
Chapel – We would like to convert the garage on the west side of the house to a chapel with a meditation loft. The chapel and meditation loft will be a silent space where you may go to anytime 24 hours per day.
