I’ve been intermittently listening to Mooji Rishikesh Live Satsang 2019 over the past few days. Mooji’s answers keep bringing the person back to the Truth pointer that :
Experience doesn’t remove ignorance, only Self Knowledge does.
My question is : “Why does the person value experience over Truth ?
One questioner touched the Truth but didn’t recognise it because they were expecting an experience.
Experience is an important tool for the seeker in gaining knowledge. It is also the result of the body senses and how we live in the world with a body/mind. Experience is important for purification- RAT, root cause inquiry and releasing. Everything in this world is an object that we feel through experience. But experiences too are objects, even spiritual experiences, they change, they come and go, so they are not Real. NTI 1 John said to me ( my notes)- It’s a Knowledge problem not an experience problem. NTI 2 Peter chapter 2, said- “ ... (this is good news, )for when you understand that your thinking mind is confusion, you also realize that you need not listen to it. In that moment of realisation, you are free.” And so clearly in NTI Revelation, chapter 1- “the world is an illusion, and so everything you experience as you let go of the world is illusion also. You are not to believe any of it. But helpful symbols will be given to guide you. Remember that they are only symbols. Follow them, realising you know not where they lead. Do not idolize anything within the world or any symbol or any thought that is sent to lead you from the world. Hold to them as they are useful, but let them go when their usefulness has past....Nothing within the experience of the world is to be held to”.
The advanced seeker must give up desiring experiences because in the moment of Self Realisation they will not claim Truth in favour of giving attention over to experience, which might be mistakenly more exciting to the thinking mind yet is not Truth as all experiences come and go , even if it lasts for a long period. In the moment, I saw this attraction too but stayed focused on the Self. It’s even logical because you are the Self right now and yet what experience has been with you throughout all other experiences? The only one I could find was the very long, seeming lasting experience of feeling human yet it goes every night in deep sleep and was eventually seen through. It’s a tricky one because the ego mind doesn’t see it as an experience. This feeling I remembered since childhood, it was a long passing experience. But who I really am i have known too all my life yet took for granted - overlooked.
After Self Realisation, experience is seen for what it is and every experience can be enjoyed (even enjoyed for not being enjoyed) because your attention stays within, if it goes outward it quickly returns because joy lays inwards. I say all this because it turned out to be so important. Watching Mooji ‘s devotees, i see this experience/ Truth confusion concealing Self Realisation and i hear Mooji pointing out the same message , revealing the Truth teachings.
