2-10-19 Weekly Gathering: “Living In the World With Spirit”
Title: “Living In the World With Spirit”
Description: Jay shares practical ways and how ‘right diligence’ can help us to navigate the world while still remaining true to the awakening that is occurring within us. Also, how engaging in a joyful practice also helps us to keep with the practice. A consistent practice is part of being in the world but not of it.
Reader: Michele Hojnacki read “Right Diligence” from The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Freedom From the Ego Retreat ~ March 11-15
Freedom from the Ego Retreat
March 11-15, 2019
with Regina Dawn Akers
at the
Awakening Together Retreat House
in La Veta, Colorado
To the degree that you are unaware of ego, you are a slave to ego. It speaks in your mind as you, and you think it is you, so you talk, feel and act based on its deception. The way to become free of ego is, first and foremost, to become aware of its cunning messages.
At this retreat, you will learn to see how the ego tricks you into living from its guidance instead of from spiritual intuition. When you leave this retreat, you will see the ego more clearly than you did before. That will provide you with the opportunity to disregard ego, which is how you free yourself from it.
This retreat is led by Regina Dawn Akers. Regina will emphasize skills that help you transcend ego and recognize inner wisdom as the Voice that makes you happy.
Retreat Schedule
The retreat will begin at 10am on Monday, March 11 and end at 3pm on Friday, March 15. We recommend arriving in La Veta on or before Sunday, March 10 and departing on or after Saturday, March 16.
All guests are welcome to stay at the AT Retreat House for up to 28 days. Longer stays are possible with permission.
Retreat Fee: $200.
$50 non-refundable deposit.

Gentle Healing Year 3 ~ Daily Contemplation #4
Please read and contemplate quotes 5-8 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. This will be your last quote today:
The knowledge that ignores the Self, the knower, and holds as true the field perceived, is but illusive folly. No matter how much one has learned, true knowledge is the merging of all indicative knowledge in awareness of the Self.
Note: For an example of what contemplation might look like, reference Regina’s contemplation of this quote:

Gentle Healing Year 3 ~ Daily Contemplation #3
Please read and contemplate quotes 1 – 4 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. This will be your last quote today:
Even the knowledge sense-perceived of the world without has for its ground the Self above. To search for knowledge somewhere else apart from That is but to grasp the shadow, but not the substance.
Note: For an example of what contemplation might look like, reference Regina’s contemplation of this quote:

Here is a quote from today’s reading:

Title: “Living In the World With Spirit”
Description: We are all growing in our radical honesty, our willingness, and our looking. We still have jobs, relationships, and get groceries. We still have all of the daily tasks that make up an average day. How do we do all of these things and not just get caught in business or activity? How are we to BE with our life in the world as we grow in our desire to awaken ? What does ‘living in the world but not of the world’ really mean on a practical level? How does this work ? Such are the questions that will be explored with Spirit as we will allow Spirit to speak in the newness of moment. Come and join us in this adventure of discovery.

Gentle Healing Year 3 ~ Daily Contemplation #1
Today, please read and contemplate the Introduction in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. You may stop reading at the subheading titled, “How To Read the Quotes.” We will read and contemplate that section tomorrow.
Here is a quote from today’s reading:
People often study spiritual teachings just because they find the concepts interesting. They like to discuss the teachings, argue about the teachings, think about the teachings, go on and on asking questions but missing the answers, etc. Most people fail to distinguish between that which is essential and that which is merely a distraction and detour, like a group of people who meet in an automobile once per week to discuss various maps without ever putting the key in the ignition and without ever moving the car even one inch.
