This retreat is based on the teaching of Indian sage, Ramana Maharshi. At this retreat, you will learn the subtleties of self-inquiry. You will participate in guided self-inquiry, meditative self-inquiry, self-inquiry with a partner, journaling based on self-inquiry, and you will contemplate and discuss quotes by Ramana Maharshi.

The purpose of this retreat is to help you make advances in the process of self-inquiry in a very short time, so when you go home from the retreat you will be able to use self-inquiry more effectively to abide in the true Self and detach from the false self. Each participant will receive a book of Ramana Maharshi quotes about self-inquiry.
 

Retreat Details:

The retreat will begin at 10am on Monday, February 17 and end at 3pm on Friday, February 21. We recommend arriving in La Veta on or before Sunday, February 16 and departing on or after Saturday, February 22.
 
 

Retreat Fee:
$200 if you lodge at the retreat house.
$245 if you stay elsewhere.
$50 non-refundable deposit required.

The Sanctuary Will Be Closed on New Year’s Eve & January 1, 2020

The Awakening Together Sanctuary will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Eve on December 31, 2019 and New Year’s Day, January 1, 2020 so that our staff, members, and friends can be with their loved ones and celebrate the Holidays.

Please note that all Gentle Healing classes will now take place on Monday December 30th instead of Tuesday (New Year’s Eve).

 

See you in the Sanctuary on DECEMBER 30, 2019! And then again, the Sanctuary will re-open on Sunday, January 5, 2020 for our regularly scheduled programming.

In the tradition of the New Year’s resolution, start the new year by determining a spiritual vision for 2020 and devising a realistic plan for achieving that vision. We will begin with your highest spiritual purpose—the spiritual aspiration, determine the best next steps for you specifically towards achieving that purpose, and then break those steps down into achievable spiritual objectives that you will be able to master in 2020.

The process that we will use at this retreat is practical, intuitive and guided by inner spiritual intuition with a little help from a facilitator. You can expect to receive personal and private help with your individual spiritual obstacles.

After a year of following the achievable plan that you will develop at this retreat, you will be able to see advancement in your own personal spiritual progress. This retreat is led by Regina Dawn Akers.

The Teachings of Ramana Maharshi

This class is 6 weeks long.

Ramana Maharshi was born on December 30, 1879 in a village in Tamil, India. His father died when he was twelve, and he went to live with his uncle. At age 16, he experienced a sudden and extreme fear of death to which he responded by immediately seeking the truth of the Self and became Self-realized. Six weeks later he followed an inner calling and ran away to India’s holy hill, Arunachala, where he remained for the rest of his life. For years he was a silent ascetic. He spent many hours each day deep in samadhi. Years later he emerged from silence to share the wisdom of the True Self with those who came seeking it. Before the end of his life in 1950, thousands of people had come to him from all over the world. Ramana Maharshi became known as one of the greatest saints to have ever graced this planet with Presence.

Join us as we contemplate the teachings of this great sage. We will also read stories about about him told by the people who knew him best.

In this class you will:

1. Consider the legend, the living example and the teachings of a great sage and determine what is most helpful to one’s own spiritual process.

2. Practice self-inquiry in order to distinguish between what is and is not the Self.

3. Practice removing attention from the non-Self and placing it with the Self using a spiritual practice that is most suited for you now.

Class Schedule:

Tuesday afternoons, January 14 – February 18, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm ET (12:00-2:00pm MT). Homework begins January 7. Facilitator: Rev. Meg Reinhart

Cost is $120.
Textbook needed is The Spiritual Teaching of Ramana Maharshi.
Class is offered in Zoom. Familiarity with Zoom is helpful.
