The Teachings of Inner Ramana came to our founder, Rev. Regina Dawn Akers, in 2009 when she said a prayer asking for something to take her to the next step. It teaches three tools, surrender, mantra and self-inquiry, which work together to help break the addiction to the chattering mind.

In this class you will:

1. Become familiar with surrender as a means of tuning into spiritual intuition for guidance in everyday circumstances.

2. Practice the mantra as a way of gently removing attention from mental chatter.

3. Practice self-inquiry in order to notice that the “I” in thought is only thought.

4. Practice Self-inquiry in order to seek for the true Self.

The Awakening Together Sanctuary is closed during the Awakening Together Fall Retreat so that our staff may attend the retreat. The Sanctuary is closed beginning Sunday, October 22, 2017 until 5pm ET on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Regular Sanctuary programming will resume at 5pm ET on Sunday, October 29.

There is one exception to the Sanctuary closure. The Sanctuary will open at 9pm ET on Tuesday, October 24 for Gentle Healing. The Gentle Healing Group will begin at 9:20pm and will last for about one hour.

Awakening Together Radio will continue to broadcast throughout the Sanctuary closure.

Mary Reed is an “accidental” mystic who, following eleven years of profound, involuntary visions and insights into divine realms, surrendered her executive life in Washington, DC to explore her spiritual gifts in a remote Buddhist nunnery in India. She grew up without any interest in religion but with an innate knowing that humans had more ability to access greater wisdom than most seemed to realize.

Join us for Movie Watcher’s Group on Sunday, October 29  at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT.   This month’s movie is Revolver.

During his seven-year stint imprisoned in solitary confinement Jake learns of a specific strategy (referred to as “The Formula”) that is supposed to lead its user to win every game. The Formula itself was discovered by two unnamed men who inhabited adjacent cells on either side of Jake’s own.

The chess expert and the con man plan to leave their cells simultaneously, and promise to take Jake with them. But when they disappear from their cells, they leave Jake behind to serve the remaining two years of his sentence. Upon his release, Jake  garners a reputation that leads many casinos to fear his freakishly good ‘luck’, and he is blacklisted by many casinos in fear that he will earn money in them. The Formula applies to any game, and is often exemplified by Jake’s apparent mastery of chess. The story revolves around Jake’s epiphanic awakening, as he learns how to apply the Formula to the ‘game’ of life.

The movie is available on ITunes, VUDU and Youtube or on DVD Netflix plan (not streaming).  Watch the movie with Spirit, then come and share your insights with the group.  Guided movie watching allows us to experience our world and practice forgiveness without leaving our living room!  It is recommended you join with Spirit in meditation or prayer prior to viewing the movie and then journal after.  Watch for common themes, for characters you like or don’t like, for situations that seem to cause discomfort or joy.  Contemplate what your reactions to the movie tell you about your beliefs about yourself and the world you live in.  Bring what you learn back to the group and learn from others’ movie watching experience as well.  Enjoy the movie and don’t forget to watch your mind!
