Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 217

September 30, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
It can be but my gratitude I earn.

This lesson can best be made clear by first realizing this idea: for there to be conflict there has to be two. One might reason, unless there are two of something, like two people, how could conflict arise? Even if the person feels himself to be conflicted, he must have two conflicting ideas that are causing him a problem.

First and most practically, we never have conflicting desires because we all really have the same desire. That desire is to know our oneness, our freedom, our awakening.

I realize that any seeming conflict is providing me with the opportunity to heal my mind. So I shift into gratitude. I let myself feel grateful for the gift of the seeming conflict, which is helping me achieve my desire.

After feeling genuine gratitude for the opportunity, I move myself into self-inquiry, I open up and rest with my feelings, or I engage in another spiritual practice that feels right in the moment.

My gratitude has strengthened my spiritual resolve and turned an opportunity for conflict into an opportunity to heal.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 216

September 25, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
It can be but myself I crucify.

All that I do I do unto myself. If I attack, I suffer. But if I forgive, salvation will be given me.

Attack is mere justification for self will. It is the desire that things go your way or that heads roll. You want your way and if you don’t get it, someone must pay. That is attack at its essence. It is the continued argument with reality. It is the continued refusal to allow things to be just as they are.

This is the source of our “attack”–these thoughts that my will must be served. We must question “whose will?” It is the one whose will is thwarted whose ire is raised. Would you serve that “one?” In serving that will it is your Self you attack.

Service of that will only ever brings suffering and discontent. We will learn this lesson until we are no longer willing to abide in suffering. All attack results in our own suffering. You simply will not find an instance where this is not true.

Today, look at this truth with open eyes and make the clear choice to let go of the attack habit.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 215

September 24, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
Love is the way I walk in gratitude.

Lesson 195 tells us you would have to be insane to refuse to take the steps that would allow you to escape from the imprisoned mind.

I’m grateful for awareness-life-presence. Being grateful for awareness-life-presence is simply being grateful for what we really are, our isness, our beingness, our life force. It is the truth of us. This gratitude has been called right gratitude.

When we slip into comparisons, we have slipped into wrong minded perception because, as Lesson 195 pointed out, “Love makes no comparisons. And gratitude can only be sincere if it is joined in love.”

Who hasn’t repeated the famous quote, “But by the grace of God, there go I”? When we think this way, we have slipped out of gratitude into judgement without even realizing it.

Judgement means to make unequal by comparison. If we compare our state of perception, a luckier life than the life of others, we have, according to the original lesson, “split them [our brothers] off in our awareness from the unity we share with them, as they must share with us.”

So thank God we are separate from no living thing” because unless we are thankful for every living thing then, “we offer thanks for nothing.”

In our practice today, then, we want to look at the previous hour and see if in that hour we had any wrong minded perceptions. Should we find any, we are encouraged to pause and replace it with right gratitude by focusing our appreciative attention on truth (awareness-life-presence) and bypassing our judgements.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 214

September 23, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I place the future in the Hands of God.

In preparing to write today’s tip, I asked Inner Wisdom, “What does it mean to place my future in the hands of God?” This is what came.

It means that you do just this [referring to asking the question]. You ask me how you are to see, and think and respond. If you have no preferred outcomes, what else would you use to navigate but surrender?

[Upon feeling an uneasy feeling in my chest], It means more than ignoring the tug at the heart—the anguish or anxiety that you sometimes feel. It means looking squarely at that pain and asking it what it would show you. For only by knowing why it has come can you learn how it holds you to an imaginary past of your own making.

Imagining the past is no different than imagining the future. In order to imagine the past or the future, you must first imagine “I.” Surrender does not require an “I.” Surrender is the absence of self-will, which is absence of the “I.”

You say that absence of the I is your goal, and yet, you do not practice given the opportunity. You take the opportunity to surrender the I every time you surrender—every time you ask, ‘What am I to do now, how am I to see this, how am I to respond,’ etc.

Placing the future in the hands of God is drawing the road map to where your journey ends. This is the only choice to be made. Today, practice what you really want. Practice placing your future in the hands of God.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 213

September 22, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
All things are lessons God would have me learn.

Nothing is wasted. All things are lessons. Our lessons that we receive through forgiveness are healing because the upsets go away through the recognition of truth. ACIM says the light of truth dispels the darkness. Events and circumstances are no longer perceived by what is going in our conditioned minds. The false thoughts we have about ourselves and others are no longer believed or seen as relevant.

Haven’t we all had a painful experience? What determined that the experience was painful? In tonight’s TED talk hosted by Jacquelyn, the story was relayed about a boy who had anxiety attacks. The psychiatrist asked the boy to turn around in circles until things were topsy-turvy for him and then asked how this was different than his anxiety attacks. Things aren’t just a little different than our beliefs say they are. Things are massively different. These are God’s lessons, truth’s lessons. A healed mind sees altogether differently. The mind is returning to its true way of being. Peace of mind is an enormous change for most of us.

Lesson 193 asked us to pause each hour and look at the upsets that occured in the previous hour. Let’s stop the upset in its tracks. Let’s not make any exceptions. Let’s let go of the upset. Let’s forgive through self-inquiry, through right reason, through rest, accept, and trust. Let us undo the conditioning that appears to be us. Let’s let all things be lessons God would have us learn.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 212

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I have a function God would have me fill.

“Teach your mind to listen to truth, and you teach the mind that it is a mirage also. In this way, the mind becomes willing to be quieted. And in the quiet of the mind, the echo of truth can be heard. … Teach the mind to be subject to the Heart by being grateful for the desire of the Heart. … Be ready to remind yourself of your truth. The way of the thinking mind is forgetfulness, but your way is the way of remembering. Joyfully remember whenever the mind forgets, and the way will be filled with happiness and deep gratitude.” ~ NTI Titus

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 211

September 20, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I am the holy Son of God Himself

Today’s lesson reminds us that the cause of all of our problems is due to the fact that we let our thoughts tell us who we are. Examine the next statement you make to anyone; isn’t it a statement about who you think you are? Really, listen to the true content of your statement/conversation and see if this isn’t the gist of every statement we make.

Something I’ve started to do as often as I can remember is to ask myself, “what’s it for?” For example, when I have the thought, “I’m going to tell my friend what my other friend said.” Or “Everytime I book a flight, I feel that anybody else is more capable than I am in this matter.” What are these thoughts about? What are they for? They keep me from identifying with awareness-life-presence. NTI Matthew, Chapter 13 says, “you must know that your thoughts are born of fear… you must put down your thoughts of fear and turn away from its evidence. Through your consistent choice, I will give you my gift. For I cannot give against your choice, so I cannot give the gift of love if it is fear that you choose.”

“You are the holy Son of God Himself.” Identifying with what you are not is the cause of all your problems as well as being the cause of all your suffering. Because identifying with thought is the cause of all of your problems, identifying with awareness-life-presence is the answer to all of your problems. We fall short of living our truth and our joy if we continue to speak and act from mis-identifying thoughts.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 210

September 19, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I choose the joy of God instead of pain.

We are learning that our freedom of choice is unlimited. We can choose to suffer by giving the idea of suffering our believing attention. With practice, we can just as easily choose to experience joy.

We will suffer emotional pain if we wish for things to be different than they are. We suffer emotionally when we imagine that we should have something different, that someone should have acted differently, that we should have that thing that we lost, etc. If we were to accept things as they are, we would not suffer emotional pain when things were different than we would prefer them to be. Our suffering comes from resisting what is.

Similarly, physical suffering is experienced when we are resistant to the felt sensations within the body. Our suffering lies in our resistance to experiencing “pain” within the body.

We always have the choice to experience the joy of being rather than believing that some “loss,” upset, or “uncomfortable” sensation should not be and, therefore, demands suffering.

Freedom from suffering comes from the Loving All Method, because when we practice the Loving All Method we are choosing joy with all experiences. Love everything. If you can’t genuinely love it, emotionally accept it. If you can’t accept it, emotionally allow it. These choices lead to freedom from suffering.

Gentle Healing Year 1 ~ Lesson 209

September 18, 2019 By Jacquelyn Eckert

Review instructions: Spend at least 15 minutes in the morning and evening contemplating today’s lesson. Repeat today’s idea at least hourly. Use today’s idea throughout the day.

Today’s review idea:

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I feel the Love of God within me now.

Inner wisdom isn’t working in the world, but is working with the mind that sees itself within the world. Through the Light in you, through the acceptance of what you already know to be true, you will see the world anew.

The world, being a part of the code, can only be seen as a reflection of how you perceive in general, but Light dispels darkness by its mere presence. Unreal beliefs produce unreal appearances. Forgiveness gives up the entire belief system.

Our tools–awareness watching awareness, the loving all method, and root cause inquiry–all go beyond the limited belief system of the deceived mind. NTI John Chapter 1 tells us, “It is the Light that sees truly and proves … men are mistaken in what they see and what they think. All that is meaningful is the vision that comes of Light. With vision comes awakening, which comes to all men because the Light is within them. “And in our quiet hearts and open minds, His Love will blaze [the Light and] Its pathway of Itself.”

Today we turn within and let meditation be as it is. We do not ask for a deeper experience than the one we have. We do not ask for visions or insight. We do not ask for awakening to come today. We make no demands. Instead, we sit quietly with our eyes closed in appreciation for awareness-life-presence as it is, which we know and feel, regardless of any experience or non-experience that happens around and within it.
